My job is to work with you to make your book the best it can be. There are three types of editing that I provide, Beta Reading, Developmental Editing and Line Editing. Each is crucial to your book's success. If you haven't had beta readers, your book may not be ready for developmental editing. And line editing should not be done until developmental editing is complete.

Beta Reading gets someone else's eyes on your manuscript. When you write, you know what you want to say. Because of that, you are more likely to miss any confusing passages or omissions of important information. I look at your manuscript from a reader's point of view and let you know if you have where you have hooked me or missed the mark. I point out where I get confused or find contradictory information. I let you know if your pacing is too fast or slow. You get back a picture of what a reader is thinking as he or she is reading your story.

Developmental Editors take a bird's eye view of the story searching for plot holes, character issues, turning points, pacing problems, and disruption to the narrative flow. I look at the tone and the overall structure and see where it needs to be strengthened or clarified. I send you my comments and feedback for improvement. You work on the changes and send them back to me for further suggestions. This continues until you are satisfied with your overall story.

Line Editors look at the story from the sentence and paragraph level. I look at the flow of and transition in each sentence and paragraph. I suggest changes to tighten the wording and clarify any ambiguous text while ensuring the original meaning is preserved. I check for repeated phrases and overused words. I look through the spelling, grammar, and punctuation correcting errors as I see them. As I said on the home page, I remain in contact with you in case you have any questions or issues that have not been resolved.
